What are a standard private and a semi-private room?
A standard private room is a room with one bed. A standard private room is the lowest rate (regular) private room in a hospital. A semi-private room is a room with 2 beds.
What is a deductible?
A deductible is a fixed amount per year per person of covered expenses that are not eligible for reimbursement by ExpatPlus. Once your annual deductible has been met, your expenses will be reimbursed according to the conditions of your plan.
The deductible only applies to outpatient care. And a range of deductible options is available under the medical plans Globe and Orbit. No deductible is applicable under the medical plan Universe and to the optional dental plan.
What is hospital Cash Benefit?
Hospital cash benefit is a lump sum payment you receive per night in case of hospitalization, but only if room, board and treatment are received completely free of charge.
What is co-payment?
Co-payment is a percentage of the (eligible) medical expenses to be paid by the Insured himself/herself, not reimbursed by the insurance plan. For example, if a medical treatment is covered at 80% you will not be reimbursed for the remaining 20%.
What is host country?
Host country is the country in which the insured will be living and working.
What are reasonable and customary expenses?
Medical expenses will be considered reasonable and customary if they correspond to the charge usually made by the health care provider for a similar service or supply and do not exceed the normal charge made under the best prevailing conditions for such a service or supply in the locality where the service or supply is received.
What are prescription drugs?
Drugs/medicines which are necessary to treat a medical condition, and which are not available without prescription by a doctor.
What is emergency?
Emergency treatment is treatment urgently required to treat a condition that presents an immediate and serious threat to a person.
What is home country?
Home country is the country in which the policyholder is located and/or out of which the insured is expatriated.
