Are fertility treatments covered?
Yes. Our Universe plan covers expenses (outpatient or inpatient expenses) related to infertility treatment. This benefit is subject to certain conditions. More information in our benefits guide.
Do I need to wait to get certain treatments?
There is a 10 month-waiting period for all medical expenses related to delivery and maternity care as well as a waiting period of 12 months for all orthodontic treatment and dental prostheses. For the expenses related to artificial insemination, infertility treatment and sterilisation, there is a waiting period of 12 months.
These waiting periods are waived in case, at the time of affiliation, the members of a compulsory group plan had been benefiting from a similar cover. Such waiver is only valid if explicitly mentioned in the Special Conditions.
How is the deductible applied?
The deductible is a fixed amount per year per person of covered outpatient expenses for which you are responsible. Once your annual deductible has been met, your expenses will be reimbursed according to the conditions of your plan. We have a range of deductible options available on our plans Globe and Orbit: € 0/£ 0/$ 0/, € 100/£ 65/$ 125 and € 300/£ 200/$ 375.
Am I covered for war and terrorism?
In case you are a victim of activities of war and terrorism, without any active involvement in these activities, you are covered (within the limits and ceilings of the coverage). You are not covered in case of active participation in operations of war and terrorism.
When you are traveling or residing in a country or a region publicly known to be in state of (civil) war, you are not covered except for medical and dental expenses. We refer to the list of countries for which the UK-FCO advise not to travel to (www.fco.gov.uk).
Are complementary therapies covered?
Yes. ExpatPlus offers a wide range of complementary therapies as standard. These include homeopathy, osteopathy, physiotherapy, chiropractic and acupuncture.
Will I be covered for any chronic condition I have when joining the plan?
Yes. Upon acceptance into ExpatPlus, all your medical expenses for chronic conditions will be covered subject to the terms of your policy. However, prior to the acceptance, the medical adviser can define partial exclusions of cover, or propose an additional premium to waive exclusions.

Will I be covered for any illnesses or injuries I have had before joining the plan?
Yes. Upon acceptance into ExpatPlus, all your medical expenses for pre-existing conditions will be covered subject to the terms of your policy. However, prior to the acceptance, the medical adviser can define partial exclusions of cover, or propose an additional premium to waive exclusions.

What if I am covered under another insurance?
If you are entitled to reimbursement of expenses under another health insurance, you first have to apply for reimbursement under your other health insurance; then send us your claim of the remaining expenses. Your additional reimbursements will be calculated on the basis of the difference between your covered expenses and the reimbursements obtained from your other insurance.
For individuals, we do not provide complementary cover to other private insurances or social security systems.
Are any age limits applicable for benefits?
Upon enrolment, no age limits are applicable for all medical and accidental death and disability benefits. For evacuation expenses, there is a max. age limit of 75 years old at the date of intervention. Temporary incapacity and permanent disability benefits will be paid until the insured person reaches the age of 65.
Am I covered if I travel away from my country of residence?
Yes. You can choose to be covered worldwide or worldwide excluding USA and Canada. If you take the latter option, cover in the USA and Canada is restricted to accident and emergency treatment only during a temporary stay of max. 90 days.
Is physiotherapy covered?
Yes. All claims for physiotherapy must be accompanied by a referral of a doctor.
Can I get treatment in any hospital in the world?
Yes. Our plan allows you to receive treatment in the hospital of your choice.
Is preventive care covered?
Yes, preventive care is covered and includes well baby care, vaccinations (adults and children), one adult physical examination per insurance year, one routine eye test per insurance year, one (bilateral) mammogram per insurance year (females as of age 35), one pap-smear test per insurance year (females as of age 35), one PSA-test per insurance year (males of age 50).
